Sex-Positive Therapy: Clinical Considerations for Using a Sex-Positive Framework and Working with Erotically Marginalized Clients

$100.00

About this workshop:

In this workshop, participants will explore sex-positivity as a framework that can enhance the therapeutic container for any client, at any time, within the arc of their treatment. We will learn how to integrate sex-positivity into assessment, rapport building, and interventions and discuss how a sex-positive approach can support us as clinicians in facing our own countertransference, biases, or judgements regarding sex and sexuality in the therapeutic container. We will also explore the definition of erotic marginalization and what this means for client experiences of sex and sexuality.

About your presenter:

Caroline Wilson (she/her) is an LCSW serving as the Clinical Director at Out of the Woods Therapy. Caroline works with adult individuals and relational systems and especially loves supporting clients in exploration of sexuality, gender, and the untangling of  societal norms or internalized expectations that often accompanies this work.

A note from practice owner, Jamie Brazell, who oversees the continuing education at our practice…

2 hours of AASECT continuing education (2 CE credits) are earned through attending and submitting the feedback form after attending. Does your licensure board accept AASECT credit? I’m not sure, but I have never once had a problem with the MFT board. That’s literally going to be my answer any time that question is asked because I cannot guarantee that your board will accept it, but I have never heard of a board that didn’t and I also know that a lot of boards won’t pre-approve CEs because they typically don’t have the resources to do that.

Friday September 11th at 10 am - noon

19 Zillicoa St, suite 3, Asheville, NC 28801

The Historic Homewood Building - please park behind the building or on the street or in the overflow parking behind the building that is to the right of when you are facing our building.

You’ll enter through the back door that faces the parking lot - labeled “west entrance” and then you will take the elevator to the third floor and we will be in the group room (straight off the elevator, left down the hall).
